PRE Wax
-
Body Waxing: Your hair should be at least ¼ inch in length, about the length of an eyelash We recommend you allow at least 2 weeks from your last shave or wax for optimal results. If your hair is too long, don’t worry, it doesn't need to be trimmed.
-
Pain Relief: Taking Advil or Ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment can help reduce discomfort by dulling pain receptors and providing anti-inflammatory benefits (check with your doctor if this is safe for you).
-
Avoid Certain Products: On the day of your appointment, avoid using self-tanners, oils, moisturizers, or abrasive body/facial scrubs as they can affect the waxing process.
-
Tanning: Avoid tanning beds or sun exposure for at least 24 hours before your appointment to reduce the risk of irritation.
-
Facial Waxing: Stop using anti-wrinkle or anti-acne products 7–10 days prior to your facial wax, as these increase cell turnover and could lead to skin sensitivity, tearing, or scabbing during waxing.
-
On the Day: Try to avoid heavily caffeinated drinks as they can heighten your nervous system and make waxing feel more intense.
-
For Women: If possible, plan your waxing appointment for a week before or after your menstrual cycle, as waxing during your cycle can increase sensitivity. Don’t worry, waxing during your cycle is still safe—just be sure to use a tampon if you’re on your period.

Waxed... What Next?
After your wax, some redness or bumps are normal and can last from 20 minutes to a couple of days. To protect your freshly waxed skin, here are some tips for the first 24 hours:

-
Avoid Touching or Rubbing: Refrain from touching or rubbing the waxed area, especially for facial waxing. Fingers can transfer bacteria to sensitive pores, leading to breakouts.
-
Sun and Tanning: Keep the waxed area out of direct sunlight and tanning beds for at least 24-48 hours to avoid skin irritation or burning.
-
Exercise and Sweating: Avoid working out or sweating excessively right after your wax. Sweat can trap bacteria in open pores, leading to white pimples or irritation.
-
Swimming and Hot Baths: Avoid swimming in pools or taking hot baths for the first 24 hours to minimize irritation or stinging, especially in salt or chlorinated water.

Additional Considerations
-
New to Waxing? It's common to experience a few bumps or pimples after your first few waxes, as your follicles adjust to hair removal. Light exfoliation and applying witch hazel or a gentle antibiotic ointment like Polysporin can help clear them up quickly.
-
Product Contraindications: If you’re using products like Differin, Retin A, Retinol, Benzoyl Peroxide, or AHA/BHA exfoliants, stop them at least 7-10 days before your wax as these can increase skin sensitivity. If in doubt, consult with us!
